Beaded Affirmations & Journaling Workshop
We closed out Black History Month, choosing to honor not only history but healing, creativity, reflection, and community.
On Saturday, February 28th from 1:00–3:00PM, Flow With Coco hosted a Beaded Affirmation & Journaling Workshop designed to create space for intentional inward connection.
This experience will be facilitated by Wisdom-Ife Baker, who gently guided participants through a thoughtful, creative process that blends affirmation bracelet making with reflective journaling.
A Full Circle Moment
Last summer, I attended this very workshop with Wisdom.
During that season, I was navigating a lot of transitions personally and professionally. There were shifts happening, decisions being made, identity stretching. I remember sitting with the beads, choosing my words carefully.
The affirmation I created that day was:
“Own It.”
Simple. Direct. Necessary.
Through uncertainty, growth, and moments that required courage, that bracelet became a quiet reminder on my wrist. Own your decisions. Own your voice. Own your space. Own your evolution.
I still wear it to this day.
And it feels incredibly special almost full circle to now host Wisdom in the studio to facilitate this very experience for our community.
Why Beading & Affirmations?
Beading has long been a powerful form of cultural expression, storytelling, and symbolism across the African diaspora. Creating something with your hands invites mindfulness. Choosing words intentionally invites alignment. When we combine the two, we create something that can be worn and remembered daily.
Your bracelet becomes more than an accessory.
It becomes a reminder.
A declaration.
A prayer in motion.
Why This Matters
At Flow With Coco, we believe empowerment lives in everyday practices in breath, in movement, in stillness, and in creativity.
Closing Black History Month with a workshop like this allowed us to center Black joy, intentional gathering, and meaningful self-expression. It’s about honoring the past while nurturing ourselves in the present.
Community is built in moments like these seated, beads scattered, journals open, hearts soft.
