Baddies in the Bay: Girl’s Trip to SF

Mark Twain once quipped that the coldest winter he ever had was a summer in San Francisco, but when my besties and I descended on the city this November, there is no other way to say this —we brought the heat. Hosted by our Cal Gal Michelle, this trip was all about reconnecting, recharging, and diving headfirst into the magic of SF. Spoiler alert: It was everything.

Why This Trip Was a Must

Let me set the scene: my best friend and girlfriends from high school and I have this tradition of linking up every three years. Life might have us spread out coast to coast (Distance Is Our Enemy) but when we get together, it’s like no time has passed. This year, Michelle rolled out the pink carpet for us in California—and it was my first time in San Francisco!

I went to explore a new city and, honestly, just to spend quality time with my girls. What I didn’t realize was how much I needed this trip as a reset. Between shifts in my personal life, responsibilities, and building my Flow With Coco community, I didn’t know how exhausted I’d gotten. SF gave me the self-care I didn’t even know I needed.

The Highlights: SF Through Our Eyes

This trip was packed with everything from iconic landmarks to chic experiences. Here’s what we checked off the list (no particular order):

  • Top of Twin Peaks: Hands down, one of the best views in the city. Standing at the top, we soaked in 360-degree panoramas of SF, from the Golden Gate Bridge to the downtown skyline. It’s the kind of spot that makes you stop, breathe, and appreciate the magic of the moment.

  • Golden Gate Bridge: Iconic and stunning from every angle. We took it all in from Fort Point—waves crashing below and the bridge towering above, pure perfection.

  • In-N-Out Burger: A double-double with a strawberry milkshake, please! Because we had to see if it really lives up to the hype. Verdict: It does.

  • A Drag Show – The Nanny Live: This show was EVERYTHING. Pure comedy, sass, and talent. Grew up watching The Nanny, the nostalgia hit hard!.

  • Yoga Class: Typically, when I travel, I love to visit yoga studios in that area. That Saturday, I booked a slow vinyasa flow at Yoga Flow SF .This class was a reminder of that I need to spend more time on the mat for myself!

  • Dinner by the Beach: Imagine waves crashing in the forefront while we toasted to friendship—and it’s 45 degrees, pure magic.

  • Mission Dolores Park: Unbeatable view of the city! The park was jumping on a Sunday. Live DJ, birthday parties, sunbathing in thongs—you know the usual.

  • Japantown: As someone who lived in Japan, this was a nostalgic treat! I couldn’t resist picking up some childhood favorite snacks (Pocky and ramune, anyone?) and wandering through the unique shops. It’s not every day you come across a Japantown, and this one brought back so many sweet memories

And let’s not forget Waymo, the self-driving car we rode in—hello, future!

Lessons Learned: Go With the Flow (Literally)

This trip was a much-needed reminder to take a breather and not let life consume me. Making time for loved ones is worth every effort, and these moments of connection are priceless.

But let’s talk about my not-so-chill departure. My flight was at 7 AM, and your girl was still packing at 5 AM. 😅 The chaos cost me: last-minute checked bag fees at the gate, a carry-on I accidentally paid for through the app, and $145 in airport parking (even though I live 12 minutes away—seriously). Lesson learned: Plan ahead, Courtney.

On the flip side, I loved dressing up. At home, I’m always in leggings, sports bras or sweats, but on this trip, I put it on!— POSH COCO?—and it felt amazing. A little edge goes a long way in lifting your spirits.

What I’m Taking Back to Flow With Coco

This trip wasn’t just a vacation, it was a recharge that reminded me why I do what I do. Flow With Coco is all about empowerment, joy, and making time for self-care. Whether it’s through movement, mindfulness, or meaningful connections, prioritizing yourself and your people is a vibe we all need to embrace.

So here’s my challenge to you:

  • Call your bestie.

  • Plan a girls’ trip (or even a local outing!).

  • Make time for what truly fills your cup.

And when you’re back, let’s flow together—because nurturing your glow starts with showing up for yourself, in class and beyond.

Plan Your SF Trip

Thinking about visiting San Francisco? Here are my must-dos:

  1. The Golden Gate Bridge (From Fort Point, is a great view).

  2. Visit Chinatown and Japantown for food and vibes.

  3. Hang out at Mission Dolores Park.

  4. Catch a Drag show—The Nanny, Live was iconic.
